The Challenge

Foodsby is a food-delivery service platform that allows businesses to offer their employees affordable and convenient access to hot lunch options.

The challenge was to evaluate their website and identify ways to improve their ordering system.

The Approach

What are hungry office workers really looking for when the clock hits noon? Our UX team took a deep dive into understanding the lunch needs of the modern workaholic.

A heuristic analysis using 20 Usability Heuristics by Susan Weinschenk and Dean Barker identified the key usability issues to create a baseline for the usability tests.

Usability tests conducted with 11 participants offered insights into the user's ability to navigate the site as well as how the user would place an order for lunch.

Key Findings

  • Office workers want to browse their lunch options quickly and easily before logging in to make a purchase.

  • Office workers want as much customization as possible to make their online dining experience as personable as going to their favorite restaurant, including dietary restriction accommodations.

  • Office workers want flexibility to choose when and where their food is delivered so they can eat even after that "mandatory lunch meeting" they didn't plan for.

Recommendations

By designing a consistent menu hierarchy and giving users access to browse the current lunch offerings immediately on the landing page, users can truly achieve the convenient service and customization they want from a food delivery platform during a busy day in the office. A lo-fi interactive prototype was created to give the client a visual of a few key recommendations.
